Taraba State University, Jalingo, has commenced extensive refurbishment and expansion of its water supply infrastructure across the main campus.
The project, being implemented under the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, is aimed at improving access to reliable and sustainable water for students, staff and other members of the university community.
At the Zenith Hostel, a 12,000-litre solar-powered borehole and water storage tank has been provided, while the Agric Hostel has received a 13,000-litre solar-powered water storage facility.
The solar-powered borehole at the Works Department has also been refurbished to improve water distribution to the Undergraduate Hostel and Boys’ Hostel.
The system has further been extended to Okowa Hostel, where an additional 12,000-litre storage tank has been provided.
At the TSU Water Factory, a 12,000-litre storage tank has been refurbished and connected to a solar-powered borehole system to improve water supply to the facility.
The Security Division has also benefited from the refurbishment of a 12,000-litre solar-powered water storage facility, which provides an additional water source for the Undergraduate, Boys’ and Okowa Hostels.
Similarly, the Staff Quarters now has a refurbished 13,000-litre water storage tank supported by a solar-powered borehole.
The Senate Building has also received attention, with the refurbishment of its solar-powered borehole system and improvements to its water-piping network.
The interventions are expected to strengthen water supply across the university and reduce dependence on conventional electricity for pumping and storage.
The development is part of the administration’s efforts to improve basic infrastructure and provide a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, research and residential activities.
