The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, this Sunday worshipped at CRC-N No1 Jalingo and offered 58th birthday thanksgiving to God.
Professor Yilwatda, who stood before the congregation during the Sunday worship expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness and preservation throughout his life, describing his journey from a humble background to his present position as a testimony of God’s grace.
He appreciated the church for providing him with the opportunity to return to God in thanksgiving and share his testimony with the congregation.
He encouraged Christians to continue trusting in God and to uphold righteousness in their daily lives, stressing that his achievements were made possible through divine grace.
Professor Yilwatda said he deliberately dedicated his 58th birthday to serving humanity, particularly through three weeks of free medical services for less privileged residents across Taraba State.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at making a meaningful impact on the lives of people, rather than merely celebrating his birthday in the traditional manner.
The APC National Chairman also called on the church to remain committed to praying for leaders at all levels, noting that the Bible instructs believers to pray for those in authority.
Speaking during the service, the President of the CRC-N, Rev. Dr. Isaiah Jirapye Magaji, commended Professor Yilwatda for choosing the church as the venue for his birthday thanksgiving.
Rev. Dr. Magaji also praised the APC National Chairman for his leadership style and wished him wisdom and success in the discharge of his responsibilities.
In his sermon, titled “The Love Mandate,” and drawn from Romans 13:7–10, the CRC-N President described love as a divine mandate which every believer is expected to fulfil.
He said brotherly love was essential for Christians seeking to please God, stressing that every child of God owes others a debt of love.
According to him, Christian love must go beyond words to practical demonstration, urging the congregation and the wider society to care for one another and remain their brother’s keeper.
The sermon emphasized the need for Christians to demonstrate genuine love through compassion, service and concern for the welfare of others.
During the programme, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter, Rev. Fr. Williams Awoshiri, offered prayers for Professor Yilwatda, asking God to continue to guide and strengthen him in his responsibilities.
The Thanksgiving service was attended by senior clergymen from across Taraba State, political leaders and members of the congregation.
The service formed part of activities marking Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe’s 58th birthday celebration in Taraba State, where he has also dedicated the occasion to humanitarian and healthcare interventions for residents.
