The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Taraba State Chapter, has honoured the Chairman of the Taraba State Youths Development Agency, Amb. Prince Gara Nongha Soyonga, with an Award of Commendation for his commitment to youth development and leadership.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the NYCN Taraba leadership, led by its State Chairman, Comrade Hapson Haruna Babale.
The visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to discuss issues concerning young people in the state, with emphasis on youth inclusion in governance, peaceful political participation and community development.
Comrade Babale said the recognition was part of NYCN's efforts to identify and appreciate individuals whose activities promote the interests and aspirations of young people.
He also stressed the importance of creating opportunities for youths to participate meaningfully in governance structures, policy discussions and democratic processes.
The engagement further underscored the need for stronger collaboration among youth-focused institutions to harness the potential of Taraba's young population and channel it towards productive and constructive activities.
The partnership between NYCN Taraba and the Taraba State Youths Development Agency is expected to strengthen youth mobilisation, advocacy and participation in governance, while promoting peaceful political engagement and community development.
The development also aligns with the youth-focused policies of the administration of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, which has continued to emphasise youth empowerment and inclusion as part of its development agenda.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at expanding opportunities for young people and ensuring greater youth participation in decisions affecting their future and the development of Taraba State.
The recognition of Amb. Soyonga therefore serves as an acknowledgement of his contribution to youth development and highlights the importance of continued collaboration in preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to governance and state-building.
