TARABA MOVES TO ATTRACT INVESTMENT IN SOLID MINERALS SECTOR

By Nformi Desmond

The Taraba State Government has announced plans to establish a Solid Minerals Investment Facilitation Desk as part of efforts to attract investors and unlock the economic potential of the state’s mineral resources.
Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas made the announcement at the maiden Taraba State Solid Minerals Investment Roundtable held at the Banquet Hall, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
The Governor said the desk would serve as a one-stop platform for coordinating investors, government agencies and host communities involved in mining activities across the state.
According to him, the platform will facilitate access to geological information, land, business support, security, infrastructure and community engagement, with a view to creating a more conducive environment for investment in the sector.
At the event, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, urged investors to take advantage of Taraba’s mineral resources and partner with the state to develop the sector and position Taraba as a leading mining destination.
Governor Kefas said the state would work with the Federal Government to transform its mineral resources into viable and bankable investments capable of creating jobs and generating sustainable revenue.

He stressed that mining activities must translate into tangible benefits for host communities, employment opportunities for young people and lasting revenue for the people of Taraba.
The Governor said the initiative was part of his administration’s efforts to diversify the state’s economy and ensure that its natural resources contribute meaningfully to development.
