The Taraba State Forum of Islamic Preachers has demonstrated its commitment to interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence by supporting the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in its ₦10 billion fundraising initiative for the construction of a proposed Christian Centre.
The Forum was represented at the event by a delegation led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters, Alhaji Hussaini Ismail, who joined other religious and community leaders at the gathering.
In a significant gesture of solidarity, the Forum donated the sum of ₦500,000 to CAN in support of the fundraising initiative. The donation was widely viewed as a strong demonstration of goodwill, mutual respect and the shared commitment of Muslims and Christians to building a peaceful and united Taraba State.
The gesture further underscored the importance of interfaith collaboration in promoting understanding and strengthening relationships among the different religious communities in the state.
Speaking on the significance of the support, members of the Forum reaffirmed the need for religious leaders to look beyond doctrinal differences and work together on issues that affect the collective wellbeing of the people.
They emphasised that peace, development and social stability require cooperation among all segments of society, particularly religious leaders who occupy an influential position in their respective communities.
The Forum also reaffirmed its commitment to sustained dialogue, mutual respect and constructive engagement between Muslim and Christian communities, noting that such partnerships are essential to preventing conflict, promoting peaceful coexistence and fostering sustainable development.
The donation to CAN’s Christian Centre project therefore represents more than financial support; it serves as a powerful symbol of interfaith solidarity and a reminder that people of different faiths can work together in the spirit of humanity, respect and common purpose.
The Forum expressed hope that the initiative would further strengthen the longstanding bonds of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Taraba State and encourage more collaborative efforts toward improving the welfare and development of the people.
