The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened investigations into 18 states over alleged cases of financial mismanagement involving public funds.
EFCC Chairman, announced the development, saying the investigations form part of the commission's ongoing efforts to promote accountability and curb corruption in the public sector.
He explained that the probe covers allegations linked to the management of ecological funds, intervention funds, and other government allocations. According to him, investigators are reviewing available evidence to establish the facts and ensure due process.
Olukoyede said the commission would not hesitate to prosecute any individual found to have violated the law, stressing that the EFCC remains committed to recovering diverted public funds and protecting the nation's resources.
He called on public officials to uphold transparency and responsible financial management, noting that prudent use of government funds is essential for sustainable development and improved service delivery.
The EFCC's latest move reflects its resolve to strengthen financial oversight and reinforce public confidence in the fight against corruption across the country.
