The Igbo Community Association (ICA), Jalingo Branch, has endorsed Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing improvements in security, education and infrastructure under his administration.
The endorsement was conveyed in a letter signed by the Association's President-General, Deacon Michael C. Adili, and presented to the governor's representatives.
According to the association, the decision followed an assessment of the administration's performance since Governor Kefas assumed office.
The letter stated that before the present administration came on board, insecurity, including armed attacks and kidnappings, posed serious challenges to residents and businesses across Taraba State.
It noted that members of the Igbo community were among those affected, with many recording financial losses and living under constant fear due to the prevailing security situation.
The association, however, said the improved security environment under the current administration had restored confidence, encouraged peaceful coexistence and created a more conducive atmosphere for business activities across the state.
ICA also commended the state's free education policy, describing it as a major relief to parents and guardians by reducing the cost of educating their children.
The group further applauded the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of roads in Jalingo and other parts of the state, noting that the projects had improved connectivity, eased movement and enhanced commercial activities.
Reaffirming its support for Governor Kefas, the association pledged to mobilise its members to participate in the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the Director-General of the Dr. Agbu Kefas Re-election Campaign Organisation, Hon. Danladi Baido, described the endorsement as a demonstration of confidence in the administration's programmes and policies.
He conveyed Governor Kefas' appreciation to the association for the support and goodwill, assuring members that the administration would remain committed to policies and projects aimed at promoting peace, inclusive governance and sustainable development across Taraba State.
The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with stakeholders and interest groups expressing their positions on governance and leadership in the state.
