CHRISTIANS URGED TO LIVE EXEMPLARY LIVES AS MRS. HANNATU DAVID NYAH IS LAID TO REST IN JALINGO

Christians have been urged to live exemplary and Christ-centred lives, with the assurance that those who remain faithful to God's teachings will inherit eternal life.

The charge was given during the Funeral Mass of the late Mrs. Hannatu David Nyah, wife of the Permanent Secretary of the Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS), Mr. David Nyah, held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral, Mile Six, Jalingo, on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. Ephraim Sani reminded the congregation that death is an inevitable reality for every human being and called on Christians to live lives worthy of emulation in preparation for eternity.

Reflecting on the reading from 2 Peter Chapter 3, the priest said God has prepared an eternal home for those who remain steadfast in faith and obedience to His commandments. He stressed that everyone will one day give an account of his or her life before God and encouraged the faithful to make Christ the centre of their daily lives.

Rev. Fr. Sani also consoled the bereaved family, friends and colleagues of the deceased, urging them to find comfort in God and remain strengthened by the hope of Christ's resurrection.

Speaking on behalf of the Nyah family, Mr. Felix Babayo expressed heartfelt appreciation to all who stood by the family during their period of grief, describing the overwhelming support as a reflection of the love, respect and goodwill Mrs. Hannatu David Nyah enjoyed throughout her lifetime.

Also speaking, the Acting Chairperson of the Cathedral Administration, Mrs. Beatrice Ugorji, described the late Mrs. Hannatu as a devoted Christian, loving mother and committed member of the Church whose exemplary life of humility, faith and service would continue to inspire generations.

In a condolence message, Rev. Fr. Ferdinando Madaki, represented by the Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, sympathised with the Nyah family and the Catholic faithful, praying God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give her family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Mrs. Hannatu David Nyah, who died on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 54 after a prolonged illness, was laid to rest immediately after the Funeral Mass at the family burial site opposite the Road House Bypass, Jalingo.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. David Nyah, five children and many relatives.
